Marion E. Bücher-Herbst studied voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) in Mannheim and completed her postgraduate degree with an emphasis on ancient music and oratorio at the University of Church Music (HfK) in Heidelberg. Her repertoire ranges from Gregorian chants to the French romantic and on to quarter tone music of the modern classic genre. She has been, for some time, a very sought-after soloist whereby her artistic interests have driven her toward the extraordinary in the musical world: For example, in her work in ancient music with a highlight on the era of early baroque, she has placed emphasis on reproducing the authentic acting artistry of the baroque period which she has brought to life in any number of performances. Her love for the artistic unusual has also been seen in performances of jazz, gospel, and ethnic recitals. Some of the high points of Bücher-Herbst’s career have been performances in the Trier Cathedral, the Weimar Palace, Alte Oper Frankfurt and the main “Festspielhaus” in Salzburg, Austria. She has received any number of citations from musical competitions for the quality of her artistic ability, recorded for radio and television, as well as many CD productions.
Within her successful career as a voice teacher (many of her students have become prize winners of the country’s “Jugend musiziert” competition), she regularly holds courses in vocal formation and the direction of children’s-, youth-, and adult-choirs. With this experience she has created a number of her own compositions for children including everyday songs and mini-musicals as well as spiritual music. From 2017-2021 she was active in teacher training for the state of Hesse and since 2018 she has been the main lecturer for the program “Musikmentoren für Hessen” in the area of voice.
